Turn Your Client’s Frown Upside Down

Whether you are a small business working on with a large client base, or you are a sole trader working on just one large project, you always need to ensure that you stay in your client’s good books. If you start to get on the wrong side of your client, their satisfaction with your work will quickly decline, and they might even end up calling time on your professional relationship.

Do you get the feeling that your client isn’t completely happy with you and your work? Here are some ways you can turn that frown upside down!

Upside

Keep In Contact Regularly

Even if you have been working with your client for a long period, you should still regularly check in with them. If you don’t, they might think that you have forgotten about them! It’s a good idea to lock in a regular call with them. This could be fortnightly or monthly; it just gives you the chance to give them a rundown of what you have been doing with regards to their project. It also gives them a chance to offer you feedback and communicate any changes to the brief or deadline dates.

Remember That Your Client Is Busy

Your client might have their own business to take care of, or they might be juggling a few different freelancers working on various projects. You need to respect that they are very busy and won’t be able to dedicate every minute of every day to you. If they don’t respond to your emails or calls straight away, give them a break. It’s fair enough to follow up an email or call a week later, but don’t be persistently on your client’s back trying to get a response.

Take Responsibility For Your Mistakes

Another way you can improve the client experience is by standing up and taking responsibility for your own actions and mistakes. If you do make a mistake in your work, it’s a really bad idea to try and pass the buck onto someone else or, even worse, onto your client. Your client won’t mind if you do make the odd mistake – after all, you’re only human! Just make sure you settle it in a professional and dignified manner.

Try And Go Above And Beyond

If you want to make your client truly happy (and you should!), you need to be ready to go above and beyond the call of duty. There are various ways you can do this, but one of the easiest is to just do more than what is asked of you during the work day. If you think you can put your skills to good use in another area for your client, let them know. Once your client realizes that you are an invaluable team player, they will want to retain you for as long as possible.

Once you think that your client’s smile is starting to turn into a frown, you need to take action. And these tips can help you do just that!

Staff Training In The Industrial Sector: The Step You Can’t Skip

Dangerous machinery is part and parcel of any industrial workplace. Hence, when employing in this sector, you should opt for experienced staff. Those who have worked with machinery in the past already know the precautions to take. They’ll have a fear of the machinery necessary to treat it with the respect needed.

Sector

But, experienced staff aren’t the only step you need to take to ensure safety. The industrial sector is expansive, and machinery varies in significant ways from job to job. While experienced staff may understand the risks, they won’t be familiar with your operating systems. That’s why it’s crucial to ensure you take the time to train them. The good news is, companies like the one found at http://www.rnaautomation.com/ offer training courses on installation. This will kill two birds with one stone and is a step well worth taking. If you’re in any doubt, we’re going to look at the benefits of a properly trained workforce.

Keeps You On The Right Side Of The Law

You could argue that the most important benefit is the fact that training staff keeps you on the right side of the law. When operating heavy machinery, it’s a legal requirement to give adequate training. So, skipping this step would mean breaking the law.

And, trained staff keep you on the right side of the law in another way. If a worker receives an injury from faulty equipment, you could face a hefty lawsuit. Trained staff will be able to spot faults and take the necessary action before an injury occurs. Of course, you should do your own checks on the machinery, but an error may occur during the working day. If that’s the case, you need to know that your staff would recognize it.

Ensures A Happy Workforce

Adequate training will also ensure a happy workforce, which will in turn boost production. We all have a desire to be the best we can be at our jobs. If you don’t offer your staff adequate training, they’ll be unable to perform to the best of their abilities. As such, they may become disillusioned and frustrated. They’ll also feel unsafe in the workplace. That’s not something anyone should experience. Health and safety laws are there for a reason – to ensure we all feel safe in our jobs. Don’t let your workers down by leaving them at risk. If you’re unaware of how important a happy workforce is to your business, articles like this one found at http://www.cnbc.com should help to convince you. Put a smile on your worker’s faces to see better production, longer lasting staff, and a happier environment in general.

Maximum Levels Of Efficiency

From a production standpoint, adequate training will ensure maximum efficiency. If your staff know the machines they’re working with; they’ll be able to produce the best results. They’ll be in the best position to develop systems which ensure the most product is produced. If they don’t know machines, such systems will be a lot harder to come by.

Branching Out: Are You Ready To Invest In A Second Office?

Invest

Pexels

All business owners would love the chance to expand their company. And this is entirely possible when your revenues are continually increasing, and you are able to increase the company’s workload. But there is going to be a time when your business starts to get too big for your current office. If you are struggling to find enough space for all your staff and equipment, it might be time to consider investing in a second office.

Getting a second office is absolutely critical if you need to hire some new staff to help with all the new projects you are taking on. It can also be a good way to invest some of your extra profits that you have been taking. Another reason why some business owners decide to open a new office is that it gives them a concrete way of splitting up their company if they offer two different products or services.

So, do you think you are ready to look for a second office? Rather than simply diving straight into it, you need to really think about whether or not this is the best move for you and your business. Ask yourself the following questions, and you will be able to figure out what you should do.

Invest

Pexels

How Is Your Original Location Really Doing?

It is important that you do some thorough research into your original office. Is it really performing as well as you think it is? Once you do move into a second office, you will have to live on the profits from the first office until the new location is established. So, if it isn’t making the profits that you had originally estimated, you will struggle once you do branch out into your second location. Not only that, though, but you need to be sure that your new office isn’t going to destabilize the first. For instance, if you need to move some key members of staff to the new location to help get it up and running, then this might affect the original office.

Do You Have Guaranteed Work For The New Office?

Generally speaking, you should only expand into a second office once you know that you definitely have some work lined up to carry out in it. You should have already signed the contract for the work or projects planned so that there is no chance you can lose the work right before you move in. It’s not enough to just have the promise of a stable workflow. There have been many companies whose work has dried up once they have expanded into a new location – make sure this doesn’t happen to you and your business!

Invest

Pexels

How Are You Picking Your Second Location?

When you do come to find an office space for rent, you need to take plenty of time to look at the offices to make sure that you pick the best possible one for you and your company. If you don’t have customers or clients visiting you in your office, it shouldn’t matter too much. You just need to find an office that is in a location well-served by public transport links so that your employees have an easy commute. However, if you do anticipate members of the general public coming into your offices, you should find a location that is quite central so that it will encourage more people to drop in.

Invest

Pexels

Can You Afford The Tech That Allows You To Share Between Two Locations?

Once you have two office locations, you will need to have technology in place in both of them that lets you easily share data and information. As most of this technology is quite expensive, you should see it as a major investment. It is also important to have some measures in place that you can fall back on should this tech ever fail or suffer breakages. You’ll be able to find some repair products at www.dynatect.com so that your IT team can see to any faults when they occur. However, it’s also worth getting to know a specialist firm that deals with issues with this kind of tech as well. That way, you can call them out if you ever find a problem that you can’t solve with this sharing systems technology.

Invest

Pexels

How Will You Keep The Same Customer Experience?

One of the main reasons why office branches do so well is that they have a fantastic customer experience. Even if your customers don’t visit you in your office, they will still come into contact with your employees via email, over the phone, or even using www.skype.com. So, you need to maintain your customer service standards across the two offices. The customer should not be able to tell the difference between the service offered by both offices. If they can, and they think that things are poorer in your new location, you need to urgently think about improving your new location’s customer experience.

Do You Have An Exit Strategy For Your New Office?

It will take a lot more for your second office to succeed as well as your first office has done. In fact, it isn’t always guaranteed that a second office location will bring the desired effects. Because of this, you need to be prepared for the reality that your second office might fail. In the event that it doesn’t all go to plan, you need an exit strategy to get your company out of there so that you aren’t pouring money into rent and other overheads. So, look for an office that doesn’t have a large notice period before you can leave. You should look for somewhere that only needs you to give them a couple of weeks’ notice before you can move out. This will help you get out of there as quickly as possible.

Many companies have benefited from branching out into a new office. However, there have also been many that haven’t made it as much of a success. Make sure that you fall into that first group!

Nothing Breeds Success Like Great Content. Period.

Breeds

Good content is worth its weight in gold. Or Lithium. Or Rhodium. Or whatever the most precious metaphor is. This is because good content is one of the most effective ways to build a successful, recognizable and profitable brand. What it achieves is more traffic, better SEO rating, more credibility and trust, and cements you as an expert in your field, which is quite a nice feeling to hold onto at night.

Of course, just writing any old nonsense isn’t going to work (spoiler alert: it will do you serious harm, business-wise). That is why we are going to talk you through what makes great content so that you can start ensuring the words you use help your business perform better. Ah, the pen really is mightier than the sword.

  1. Be Original

Creating original content goes a super long way in pleasing both Google and your audience. Flip that, and what you’ll find is copying other people’s content is going to knock you down the pecking order which, let’s be honest, isn’t going to help your bottom line.

  1. Strong Titles

Getting the title or headline of your content right is absolutely key to making your content work. If That’s because eight out of ten people will read your headline, but only two out of ten will read on. So if that’s what’s missing them you are going to be limited. Don’t worry about the pressure put on this too much, though, because your subheading can have a serious influence too.

  1. Use Actions

There is a difference between function and benefit, and that is what you need to realize with your content. It’s something that Apple does very well. Yes, it tells you about all the new features its latest iPhone has, but what it does impossibly well as convince the reader that they can’t possibly live without it. It’s just a phone, and yet the benefits seem innumerable.

  1. Keep It Fresh

While original content is absolutely key, constantly updated content is imperative. This can be time-consuming, we know that, especially as digital marketing is all about timing. That is why we recommend you use a content management system that will not only help your relationship with Google but also get your content seen by the right people at the right time.

  1. Give Answers

People are on Google because they want answers. It really is as simple as that. They want to know what DNA stands for, how they can bootstrap a business and what the funniest cat video is this week. This need for answers goes beyond Google, though, because everyone reading your content is reading it to get answers, and to get those answers quickly.

  1. Never Lie

We mentioned the credibility thing above, and we’re mentioning it again. By incorporating fake facts into your content, you are reducing your credibility. That affects Google’s opinion of you, and it affects your reader’s opinions of you, which could be seriously bad for business. So only quote stats and facts from reliable sources, and then link to them, accurately.

Who Can Help You When Your Business Hits A Crisis?

There is no such thing as a business that never hits a rocky patch. There are so many things outside of your control, you cannot predict them all. Sometimes external factors will conspire against you and your business hits the buffers. This could be anything from losing one of your biggest clients to having your store-room flooded by a burst pipe!

Many new businesses cease trading in their first year but others are able to survive the bad times. What makes the difference between a business that fails and one that bounces back after a crisis? The answer is clear. Business owners that know where to access help and support to get them through the hard times are far more likely to be able to pull their enterprise back from the brink.

Here’s some support that you need to get in place so you know who to call on when things get tough.

IT support for when disaster strikes your computer systems

It doesn’t matter if you run your business from an old laptop in your kitchen or from your own server linked to a hundred PCs when computer problems strike they can bring your whole operation to a standstill. Your whole enterprise comes grinding to a halt and you need to get it up and running quickly. Cloud data backup and recovery for businesses is one of the most vital services that you need. Emergency finance for when your cash flow dries up

There will be times when your cash flow projections turn out to be wrong. There will less money coming into the business than you thought or you will have some unexpected expenditure. Without the cash to keep you going, you may start to default on your invoices and your credit rating and reputation could be seriously damaged.

When you are under pressure and your back is up against the wall, you are not in the right frame of mind to get the best deal. It is better to identify a few reputable lenders and agree on a loan in principle even if you don’t need it. You could also get an overdraft facility arranged so that you can go into the red without being penalized by fees and fines.

Accounting advice for managing your finances

Perhaps your business has hit a crisis because you have mismanaged your cash flow. With appropriate accounting and financial advice, you could avoid the same situation from happening again. These financial experts can advise you on invoicing, income streams, budgeting and tax planning. With their guidance, you can avoid nasty shocks and get through the hard times.

You will have to pay for the support for your business but you should view it as an investment. It can help you get through the hard times and look forward to a brighter future.

Make Your Construction Business More Efficient Than Ever

Construction

Pixabay

The construction industry is one of the most important industries in the world, and it’s only going to become more and more important as we progress. This means that it’s essential for construction companies to be as efficient as possible.

They need to be more efficient for at least two reasons. The first is because of the environmental effects of construction. The second is because we usually need construction jobs to be done as quickly as possible! So let’s take a look at some of the things you need to look at to improve construction efficiency.

Construction

Geograph

Considering energy use and emissions

A lot of construction companies have had their equipment for a very long time. That’s because a lot of construction equipment is made to last. Startups are often happy to acquire second-hand tools because they’re so strong. The problem with this is that technological advancements have made modern equipment more efficient. The machines are more energy-efficient and produce less toxic emissions. So even though your current equipment might still be doing the trick, you may need to consider selling them to used equipment buyers and updating your inventory!

Getting the right equipment and materials

The materials you use in your construction is almost as important as the equipment you use. What you should be doing is aiming to build more eco-friendly buildings, as well as improving your methods and putting a focus on quality equipment, even if you need to save money. Used cranes from FREO Group, for example, can offer both the quality and value for money your company needs to increase efficiency. There are loads of cutting-edge materials such as self-heating concrete and bioplastics that can help the buildings of the future be friendlier to the environment. Consider implementing them!

Construction

Wikimedia

Removing obstacles

Obstacles from your construction and deconstruction are the most obvious ways in which you can slow down the work. A mistake that a lot of construction companies make is that they let materials like steel and concrete linger for ages. They then get rid of a massive load of the stuff at the end of the week. The problem is that you then have to work around all of it! Make sure you have a system in place that lets you move those materials out of the way on a frequent basis.

Construction

Recycling

So much goes to waste in the construction industry. Too many companies seem to default to taking waste materials to a landfill. This, of course, is extremely inefficient for everyone involved! You could look into collecting these materials so you could recycle them for your next project. The problem here is that you need to remold these materials for such use. If you don’t need to collect these materials for yourself, you need to ensure you work with a recycling company. Look into concrete recycling first and foremost.

Avoiding mistakes

When you make construction mistakes, you’ll have to pay a lot in the long run. Your reputation could be damaged by an inadequate job. You could find yourself faced with legal action if building regulations haven’t been met. Take extra care, because you may end up having to do the repairs yourself without being paid!

Diversifying Your Farm: Is It Time To Jump On The Glamping Bandwagon

Jump

The agriculture industry has changed so much in recent years and, for a myriad of reasons, these changes have made it harder for traditional farms to turn a profit. Globalization, taxes, laws, weather, demand, prices; all of these have forced farmers to rethink their strategies. Some have opted to join forces with the other farmers in their areas and make a syndicate whereby overheads are slashed and profits are shared. Others have chosen to lease equipment instead of tying up their capital in purchases. Some have ventured out into specialty crops like gourmet mushrooms, lavender or Japanese maples. However, more and more farmers are stepping away from farming and jumping onto the bandwagon of popular business trends instead, such as glamping.

For those that have been brave enough to take the leap of faith, going down the luxury camping route has proven a hugely success way for farmers to generate a second-income from their land. This is because it is an established industry and, by incorporating it into their farm, these farmers have found a successful way to diversify their income. Of course, this is nothing new.

Even before the boom of Airbnb, farmers were dipping into the hospitality game by offering up their numerous spare rooms to be part of a little Bed & Breakfast side business. However, there are a few downsides to this route, especially in comparison to a glamping business. Strangers wandering through your home, having to offer them a service and not turning much profit despite the workload. There was even a time when self-contained accommodation was becoming a thing, however, this never really caught traction due to the construction costs at the beginning and the risk that followed afterward. That is why glamping businesses are starting to really take off.

Get it right, and you could have a business model that pays off your start-up costs within two years, after which the returns can be staggering. Of course, getting it right is the hard part. In order for a glamping spot to be successful, it needs to offer relaxation, comfort and a unique experience that is worth the cost. Don’t despair, though, because we’ve spoken to those one-time farmers that have made the leap and asked them for their top tips on how to start a successful glamping business the help make your farm more profitable. Here is what they had to say:

Jump

  1. The Only Thing That Sells Is Uniqueness

The Millennial desire to spend money on experiences rather than things has taken off and caught on, which is great for business. However, it also means competition is stiffer with more and more people understanding this. That is why you need to offer something unique. A campsite in a glade in the middle of a magical wood. A series of bell tents that line the banks of a relaxing lake, with boats to rent. A glamping site made of handmade hazel-bender tents complete with log burners, hammocks, sheepskin rugs and rocking chairs. Double-decker buses that have been converted into their own camping haven with everything a person could possibly need. Anything that has that “wow factor” is important.

This will not only work as free publicity and help your space stand out from the crowd, but it will encourage word of mouth and, best of all, it will encourage customers to return. This is the key because it costs seven times less to keep existing customers than it does to try and attract new customers. So be unique, be standout, and try and change things up so that no one ever gets bored of your space.

  1. Make Sure You Are Meeting A Need

You can’t possibly hope to succeed as a business if you are not meeting the need of customers. Offering a fantastic service is great, but only if it is so valuable that it will keep them coming back. As such, look at your proposed space and consider what it offers people. From there you can really focus your efforts and make it as valuable and desirable to the market you are hoping to enter. If you have a glade in a wood then you should be able to meet the needs people have for seclusion and sanctuary or peace and quiet. If you have a lake, you could well offer your glamping site as a luxury fishing experience for all the family. If you have a couple of converted buses, you could offer your space as a backpackers with a difference, and create a firepit in the middle where all your guests interact. We’re talking about a farm here, which could mean you have the perfect space for children to interact with animals and learn about nature and enjoy life completely off the grid. Whatever it is, meet that need.

  1. Know Exactly What You Will Need

This is a business and, possibly, an entirely new business. As such, it could be that you need help knowing just how to get it off the ground, how to market it effectively, who to market it too and just what you will need in order to make it a successful business. These days nothing thrives or survives without a snazzy website that does your brand justice, so make sure you start there. You will also want to keep on top of social media, especially Facebook and Instagram. These not only allow you to show off the gorgeous aesthetics of your unique glamping spot but allow guests to drop in testimonials, whether written or photographic. Hashtags can be a massive part of your success. Get a social media marketing agency to do the acquiring followers on social media for your business.

Of course, it isn’t just about marketing and being online. You will also need to make things easier for you and your customers. Having a hidden storage facility on site for your industrial cleaning equipment will make life way simpler between guests. Making sure your bathroom and toilet facilities are as luxurious as possible is another thing you will want to focus on because, in the hospitality game, the bathroom is big for business. You will also want to make sure that people can find you. Yes, that means having a clear map online, but it also means having wonderfully branded signs that could entice passersby to try their luck.

The best way to know exactly what you may need is to study your market, and see what competitors are doing. Go and stay at a couple and ask them how business is going, what they would have done differently, what permits they needed. Anything and everything.

Jump

  1. Relationships Are Everything In This Game

There are relationships to be built all over the shop, so make sure you are constantly doing all you can to maintain these bridges and improve your connections. Suppliers, providers, cleaning services, other local businesses, customers, online influencers and people on social media. All of these relationships can come in handy. For example, you could speak to a popular local restaurant, explain what you are doing and that you would love to recommend their restaurant to your guests in exchange for having leaflets in their restaurant or a partnership piece on their website. It doesn’t have to be a restaurant either. It could be there are seal trips in your area, or safaris, or hiking experiences, or any number of tourist attractions that you could partner with.

The more you do on this front though the more you are going to make your customer’s experiences better and boost your profitability at the same time. The more popular you become with loyal customers the better positioned you are to make deals too, and deals are so important in business.

Jump

  1. Your Branding Needs To Be Carefully Considered

You are in the glamping industry now. You are in a business that thrives on the experience and service you offer and that is something your branding needs to shout and sing about at every possible turn. As such, you will want to make sure you are using branding and images that are designed to intrigue potential customers and draw them in, while also trying to pull existing customers back. We’re talking about the visual impression you give off, whether on your website, your social media, your newsletters, you campsite signage, your converted bus paint color, and everything else you can think of.

You are trying to make people feel both curious and comfortable enough for them to choose you over everyone else, and choose you to spend their money with. So make sure your name does your brand justice, and your logo, and the color palette you choose, your website design, the images you choose to show off, the style of content you put on everything and even the typography you dot about the place. All of these influence your branding and so they all influence your customer’s impressions of you as well.

Creating a successful business isn’t an easy ride or a fast way to turn your profitability around. It could even take years for you to start seeing some real success. That is why it is so important you persevere. If something goes awry, pick yourself up and dust yourself down and then learn from this experience. That is the thing to remember, this is a huge learning curve, but with every new day you will get closer to perfection and that is when your business will really start to succeed.

Why You Want Your Business To Be Part Of The Green Future

Regardless of what way the government seems to move from moment to moment, we can all agree that green is the color that we’re moving towards. Consumers, businesses, and communities are a whole are focusing more and more on environmentally sustainable practices. The benefits for the world are obvious in reducing energy consumption and being smarter with our finite resources. But if you need a little more reasoning than that, you might ask: what’s in it for you?

Green

Link

It will save you money

This should be the most obvious reason and will likely be the one to catch the attention of most small business owners. There’s no doubt that some green changes in the business are going to require an initial investment. You might not exactly get solar power installed for cheap. Water saving taps don’t come for free, either. However, if you get into relationships with companies like a LED supplier, you might be able to see a reduction in costs of materials at time goes on, as well. Also, the long-term savings and the reduction in your overheads can result in a business that’s not environmentally sustainable but economically easier to keep going, too.

Your team can get behind it

As individuals, the values and motives of your team are quite important. Without taking into account if they’re truly behind the business, you’ll never know if they might have some productivity or motivation issue that comes down to disagreeing with the business as a whole. Environmental sustainability is an issue that many people in the business are going to care deeply about. But it’s not a matter of how much they care about the business. Greener businesses also tend to be much healthier and safer places for employees to work in. Making steps to create a better workplace for them shows them respect, and makes you an employer they’re more likely to work harder for and try to stay with for longer.

Green

Link

Your customers will support it

The other group whose opinions matter the most in the business are the consumers. The support (or lack thereof) can make or break a business. Nowadays, as mentioned, people care more about the environment and how well we sustain it. In the market, it’s proving more and more the case that people are willing to support companies that show a dedication to their corporate social responsibility. But more than just voting with their wallet, they can help you empower your brand. Cause marketing is growing as a way to improve the reach and prestige of a brand. That’s because, where a cause is involved, people are a lot more likely to share, to make noise, and to vocally show their support.

You could be saving yourself some work in the future

We can all agree that the trends in technology and society are pointing us towards a more sustainable future. It’s likely that the law is going to move in that direction as well. We’re already aware of regulations in environmental safety and green business that limit some of the impacts that a company can have on their environment. It only stands to reason that these regulations are likely to increase, whether on a state or federal level, in the future. How to Decide if You Need a Business Loan

Taking on any kind of loan is a big responsibility. You need to be sure that your business is secure enough to be able to pay the money back. Not every business will need a loan, even when it’s offered (find out more here why). You have to make wise choices when it comes to your business because it’s so easy to make a mistake that end up being detrimental. Here are some signs that your business is ready for a loan.

You Need to Expand

According to Metropolitan Mortgage Corp., One of surest signs of a business being able to take on a loan is expansion. If you’re taking on more work but finding it difficult to meet deadlines, you may need to hire more employees. Similarly, if your work space is becoming too small because you’ve had to hire more people or you need more physical space to work, your only choice is find premises that can suit your needs. If a lender can see that your business is busy and the money will only lead to further profit, you’re likely to be approved.

Build Your Credit

In the same way that individuals can open credit card accounts to boost their credit scores, businesses can apply for small loans to do the same. A small business loan could give you chance to prove your reliability. Paying the business loan back as agreed will show lenders that you’re capable of being sensible with money, and it may lead to bigger loan offers in the future. It’s a way of setting your business up on a strong foundation and ensuring you have a good reputation, if you should ever need to use it again.

You Need Equipment

No business can go without the equipment it needs to be productive. For example, online marketing is essential for businesses these days, but you would find it difficult to do without a laptop or desktop computer. The same goes for employees who need equipment. If you’re looking for a suitable bank loan, visit https://www.manasquanbank.com/business-banking/business-lending/. You should also make sure you have enough money for any replacements you may need in a hurry.

Taking Your Business Further

Sometimes, all a business needs to go to the next step is a cash injection. You can be as innovative and creative as you want, but if you haven’t got the money to progress, you can’t go anywhere. One of the best reasons to get a loan is to drive your business forward. You may need to invest in more products or inventory, you may decide that you need better branding or you may want a bigger and better marketing campaign. The point is to generate a higher profit margin, and banks never say no to that.

Investment Opportunity

If you have a chance for your business to invest in an opportunity that you believe will make the business money, you may decide a loan is your best option. Take a look at this article for tips on investing – https://www.moneywise.co.uk/first-time-investor/investing/10-tips-beginner-investors. Just make sure you do your research, rather than acting on a whim.

Soon, businesses will be able to gather information in new and exciting ways. From facial recognition to health monitors, you’ll have access to more personal details than ever before.

Prediction

Your business has to be ready to make predictions and offer products to match those predictions. It’s already starting on social media. If a person searches something using a search engine and then logs onto Facebook using the same device, it’s likely they’ll see adverts related to their searches. Everything You’ve Ever Wanted To Know About Business Intelligence

Intelligence

Business Intelligence (BI) is a bit of a mythical beast. Everyone has some idea of what it is, but it’s difficult to quantify or explain. One thing that most people do agree on is that the results from a carefully applied business intelligence model are clear to see. Business intelligence is a tool that allows the thorough analysis of data to create insights. It is these insights that can then be utilized to inform the key decisions for your business. Making the right decisions at the right time is vital to ensure efficiency savings and identify potential opportunities to expand.

Business intelligence is still very much in its embryonic stage with the sound identification of data but the most advanced forms of analysis still to be discovered. The data analysis that we have at our fingertips at present allows companies to analyze the personality makeup of potential customers. Restaurant chains can now analyze data and determine the best summer salad to put on their menus to maximize sales through the application of a business intelligence tool. No longer does a business manager have to go on gut instinct when making a decision. The data is there. You just have to analyze it.

Through more accurate financial forecasting, mitigation plans can be initiated at an early stage if profits are projected to be lower than expected for the next quarter. This allows companies to analyze the whys and the hows of the fall in profits and, using the same data, work out a strategy to safeguard against this happening in the future.

The analysis of data is most appropriately represented through a reporting system. In the days before BI, companies were lumbered with Access or Excel to demonstrate their findings. However, the emergence of more sophisticated BI models has led to the birth of more advanced ways of reporting. If you take a look at ‘26 Ways Ad Hoc Reporting Creates Value in 7 Industries’ you will be able to explore how the ever changing functionality of reporting benefits businesses across a variety of sectors. Real-time data leads to greater accuracy in reporting, leading to more insightful decision making and more effective efficiency savings.

The business intelligence models of the next decade will see more revolutionary ways of representing data. 3D pie charts and line graphs will be a graphic of the past to be replaced by more insightful models that we can’t even fathom at this moment in time. If this sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, that is because it sort of is. Business leaders will be able to see live data visually represented on their screens that is fully interactive so that it can be altered and enhanced instantly. What representation this future data will take and who will create the business intelligence models of the future is anyone’s guess.

Knowledge is power. And power is profits. It will be those companies that invest in the most effective business intelligence models of the future that will be the most successful.

Producing The Goods: How To Keep Your Farm Fit

Farm

Pixabay

If you’ve just decided to use your large (or small) bit of land as a farm, there are a few tips that you will need to know if you expect to start producing crops that you can later sell.

First of all, don’t go into this if you think it will be easy money – it won’t be. You are expected to put a lot of time and effort in if you want the best crops, worthy enough to sell at a higher price.

Here are the basics to remember.

Don’t overwater your crops

Every plant is different and will need a watering schedule suited for it. This can change during the month and what growth cycle they are on, and because of this, people end up killing their crops because they drowned, and once that has been done, you can’t go back to save them.

You can look out for this by their color. If the leaves or petals start to turn yellow and limp looking, you may need to reduce how much water you’re giving them.

Give them enough water

It’s also very easy to kill your crops by not giving them enough water too. Although the symptoms of this are pretty similar to overwatering, so it’s important to make yourself aware of the difference. They may still turn yellow and get limp, but they will also be looking very dry, and may even shrivel up at the ends.

Correctly transplant your crops

The more you move around with your crops, whether this be when you first plant them, or when you remove them for selling – you have to be so very careful otherwise your crops will suffer from ‘transplant shock.’ This can be from pulling them out too soon; traumatizing the roots, or planting them without giving them enough time to adjust.

You can avoid this by being cautious when handling, and make sure they have enough water during this stage.

Farming building

If you wish to expand your business in the future, you will want to consider building an area for steel sheds that can be used as separate storage, whether that be for tools, more crops and even livestock. You will need to go through the compaction process to strengthen the soil so you can build a structure confidently on top. You can then think about what you would like to use it for. If you did want to keep livestock, make sure that you do all the appropriate research when it comes to the type of animal and its breed, as every breed will need different care.

Plant for the right season

If you don’t do this, you can expect to lose a lot of your profit as they won’t be available for consumers at the right time. If you’re planting indoors, the rules aren’t as strict, as you can control how much light and heat they get by yourself. But when planting outside, make sure you have all the correct information about the crop before you put them down in the soil.

Keep a timetable and make note of everything that you’re planting, along with the dates and times.
