Small Things That Make A Big Difference To Your Marketing Campaign

When marketing your business, it’s easy to let small things slip through the cracks. You focus so much on the big things, it means you miss out on smaller things that can have a huge impact on your company. Below, we’ve listed three small things that can positively affect your marketing campaign:

Difference

Social Media Post Timing

Social media will form a core part of your marketing campaign for sure. But, this one tiny thing can dramatically change its effectiveness. The timing of your social media posts makes a massive difference. Send them at the right time, and you can get loads of engagement and see an amazing effect from them. You can get lots of people interested in what you’ve posted which may mean driving loads of people to your site or getting lots of eyes on a promotional post for a new product. But, post at the wrong time, and you’ll get no engagement. It will be a waste of a status update or tweet, no one will see it, and it won’t be very effective. So, do your research and ensure you post during social media peak times. These will differ depending on where you are in the world, but it won’t take long to find them.

Product Packaging

It might not seem like a big thing, but the packaging of your products can have a huge effect on your marketing campaign. The fact is, many people will buy products purely based on how the packaging looks. It sounds absurd, but we all do it from time to time. I’m sure many of you have seen a certain product that catches your eye because of its unique packaging. You feel compelled to buy it because it looks cool. For this reason, you need to put a lot of effort into your package branding. Try and make your products stand out from the crowd while still representing your brand. You can gain a fair few extra sales just from having well-branded packaging. Put some time and effort into this small thing, and it will make a big difference.

Web Page URL

This is a tiny thing that so many companies neglect when they’re promoting their business online. We all know that websites are essential and we want to improve the SEO of our web pages, so they rank highly in the search results. By doing this, we can see more traffic, get more engagement on each page, and promote our company more effectively. Well, did you know that the format of your URL will make a huge difference? If you keep it simple and include keywords in your URL, it will rank better than one that’s just a bunch of random numbers. Make this small tweak, and it will make a huge difference to your online marketing, particularly your search engine performance.

All of these things are tiny in comparison to some of the main parts of your marketing campaign. However, they can help increase brand awareness, promote your business, and even boost your sales.

The Big Business Battle: E-commerce vs. Retail

Battle

Pixabay

It’s almost like the battle of young vs. old. Which is better, e-commerce  or retail? Online shopping,  or any e-commerce website that is a Transaction Heroes product has boomed over the last few years with more and more people choosing to shop for big occasions in the comfort of their own home, rather than venturing out to a store. This has a major impact on people who are working to develop a sales business, they don’t need to open a storefront, let alone set up a physical location. But the one caveat in this is to think that a lot of people would like the personal touch. So does your product, target market, or your business goes lend itself well to a storefront or an online shopping experience?

E-commerce

The first thing to bear in mind with regards to setting up an e-commerce business is the funds. While it may appear cheaper on the surface as there are no bills to pay and you don’t need to pay rent, there are additional costs you may not have factored in, such as paying for your domain name as well as the shipping costs for your product. The cost will relate more to the funding of the website than anything else, which means you can keep your staff amount down as long as you have skilled workers adept at resolving the more complex technical issues. You can also focus your costs on better marketing, but the downside is a lack of communication. A lot of people would prefer to speak to someone either over the phone or have an email answered quickly i.e. within 24-hours, which may not be feasible if you are a skeleton staff.

Retail

While the downside in renting a physical location means additional costs like the utility bills, as well as setting up equipment, the speedy development of technology has made the shopping experience a more pleasurable one for staff and customer. The advent of a more efficient point of sale system has made for a more streamlined buying process as opposed to the old fashioned cash register setup. It’s also important to reiterate the personal effects that you can have on a customer in a retail setting. You can improve the experience by solving a problem there and then, or you could better represent your brand by delivering exceptional customer service. The big issue to discuss when it comes to appealing to certain demographics is to look at the age range you are catering for. If your business sells products for younger people, it appears that a lot of people prefer to research their options online before going to the store. And while we live in a 24/7 culture this does mean a big impact on staffing, so it appears that the solution is to strike a balance between the two.

Ultimately we are unable to please everybody in this respect. But look at your products and your demographics for guidance. It appears that the younger age range veers more towards buying items online, while those that are considered older prefer to purchase in person. But whether this is because of an ingrained habit it is hard to tell, but one thing’s for sure, the battle will continue!

The Importance Of Space On The Web

When we think of the digital world, we tend to consider the same things that we do when we think of the universe. We think of a huge, bounding open space that seems endless. For the most part, that’s right to consider. The internet is as endless as we would want, and work for it to be.

The big problem is – a lot of business owners and internet workers can be caught out due to their pre-existing notions of what the internet is. It isn’t just a place where you can stick everything and grow endlessly. You need to ensure that you know about your limitations on the internet, because you might be heading straight for a digital brick wall – or a glass ceiling.

Hosting is where many people and businesses will have a headache when it comes to space in the digital world. Bandwidth is limited, and if a website exceeds a bandwidth allowance, it isn’t going anywhere except offline.  Plenty of people are competing, like any aspect of business, to host your web services. What you are looking for is a cost-effective, reliable and flexible web host who will allow you to grow and contract as and when you need to. What you need to use is a great web hosting comparison to separate the wheat from the chaff and go for the option that works for you. The limitations of online space are a big deal – and you’ll find that out quickly if you encounter success on the web. Now, your web presence isn’t physical, but for all intents and purposes, it must be considered to be physical. It’s not a finite space and your ‘room’, so to speak, is dictated by your hosting plan.

Space

(source)

A store that is popular is going to fill up with people, isn’t it? This is the same for a web page. If you don’t have enough room available for web browsers, you’re going to experience a slow-down and then a shut-down. The explosive viral nature of what we share on the internet means that sites can experience spontaneous bursts of activity that they cannot handle. This is why we mentioned the importance of a flexible host above. If your site is reaching the limits of what it can make room for, calling up a host and asking for more space is needed – but this only works if the host is going to act on your request instantly. If they don’t your site will go offline and you will miss out. This is an absolute nightmare! The problem is, you can’t really predict when you’ll reach a peak, it just happens at any point where you are heading in the right direction. That’s why you want a hosting provider to be flexible. (Reference: servermania.com/new-york-colocation.htm)

You want your web services to be flexible, and while your hosting might be able to bend back and forth, you also want the same from your other web-based operations. Storage and the intranet, for example.

Storage is an important use of space on the internet, and it’s one of the main functions we expect – especially in this day and age where we can all access cloud computing services. The thing is – this space is not unlimited, and you’ll be charged for it’s use. There are plenty of web services that will give you around 10gb for your files, for free. Google Drive will offer you 15gb for your files without charge as well. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your services to get more for your money. If you want some serious storage, you are going to have to pay for it though, and most businesses with big aims will need big storage.

Space

(source)

The same goes for cloud power – if you’ve got financial sensibilities to account for you might opt for a third-party host for your services instead of basing all your digital might in house. Again, the space you have to use is only going to be as big as your budget, so it’s not going to be unlimited.

Space isn’t something we often consider when it comes to our digital output, but it’s something we need to think about! If we are not thinking about space, we aren’t really thinking at all! We don’t have unlimited space to think of – and if we plan to use unlimited space on the internet, our plans will fail us. It’s important to be realistic about your aims with your business, especially when it comes to your use of space in the digital world.

Make Your Office A Place To Be Proud Of With These Simple 4 Steps

Steps

Flickr

Your office space says a lot about you, and your personal philosophy for running your business. A bad, compressing office layout only serves to alienate your staff, because they will believe that you don’t think them worthwhile of providing a nice office space to work in. Not only that, but you’ll be spending a greater part of your week here, so it’s important that you make it at least a comfortable place to stay and help you blossom your best business sense.

But an okay office, for most worthwhile business leaders, is not good enough.

The best way to overcome these issues? Following these 6 simple steps:

Separate Meeting Areas

It’s important to have separate areas to meet and woo potential guests, investors or shareholders to your firm, because not only will it look more professional, but it will help your staff work in peace. It will also lend your meetings an air of privacy, which is important when you need to keep important ideas quiet for the time being.

This separate meeting area, which should ideally be behind some form of wall so as not to be subject to intruding eyes or ears, can serve as the spacial launching pad of some of the most lucrative investments or partnerships you will make. Be sure to deck it out with a presentation screen you can project images and slideshows onto in order to help illustrate any points you have to make. When you need to directly address one of your departments, this room will help you do it.

Cleanliness

Your office needs to be clean at all times. You can hire commercial cleaning services to come at night, so you enter a fresh and tidy office every morning. An office cleaning company can help take some of the responsibility off your shoulders while providing your staff with a pleasant place to work each day. It’s the least they deserve.

Noise

Noise nuisance is a real thing, and it can hinder productivity to a near unlimited degree. Making sure that you have the best contingencies in place to help prevent noise coming into and from your office is important. This should be decided when you choose to rent an office space or not. Be sure to visit it multiple times to ensure your staff will not be affected. If you’re running a noisy operation, such as an audio production studio, do your best to implement insulated and foam soundproofing to keep the sound in, and your residents/businesses happy.

Ventilation

Good ventilation is key to help your office seem open, fresh and worthy of working in. The stuffiness of an environment can actually serve to make space feel less open and inviting. Your office needs it. Ventilation can also help to prevent unnecessary odors that occur as a result of many people working in the same environment. In the winter, it can also help keep the office fresh without opening a window and letting the heat out. Also, make sure your roofing is properly insulated so that it won’t be that hot in the summer. Visit raintechoklahoma.com/sheet-metal/ or other sites to see what materials you should use for your office roof. If the heat is unbearable in the summer, you can contact an air conditioning Western Sydney service for installation of cooling systems in the office, have a look at this webpage, for the best professionals.

These tips, successfully implemented, will make any office space pleasant to work in.

Be an Office Hero: Reducing Risk and Eliminating Hazards

A good leader looks after his employees and makes sure they’re not exposed to any hazards in the workplace. Even though most leaders and business owners think they’ve taken care of this as far as it goes, and they’re not really in the construction industry in any way, so how dangerous can it really be? Surprisingly so, according to most offices around the world.

Hero

Your employees are subject to a number of health and safety risks every day, which are easily taken care of as long as you know about them. Your task is therefore easy; read up on the various hazards, assess your office, and make your employees’ days at the office a lot safer. If your building is located in a busy and noisy area, then the air quality is also likely to be poor. Low air quality does more than simply make a space less comfortable for occupants. It can impact your business in a variety of ways. Plenty of us have heard about the benefits of having an air purifier with washable filter. Air purifiers can refresh stale air, reducing the chances of health issues caused by indoor pollutants, which can trigger respiratory infections, neurological problems, or aggravate symptoms in asthma sufferers. For example, there are health risks for employees from breathing “bad” air throughout their day. This is why it’s important to get proper Mechanical Building Ventilation to create a healthy work environment.

Minimize viruses

When one employee in the office has a cold, it seems like the entire office is coughing within a couple of days. It’s not all in your head, by the way, as flu and cold viruses spread like wildfire; most office workers type on their keyboards all day, work closely, and eat lunch together.

It’s a recipe for contamination, obviously, but a lot of profit-driven employers won’t take fondly to a team member who calls in sick with a common cold. Even though most people are able to work with a light cold, it’s quick to make the entire office sick – which means that they’ll work slower, feel terrible, and more than one is likely to stay at home.

Be a sympathetic boss and understand that they need their rest – their health should, after all, be your number one priority, right?

Use the technology

No matter what line of work you’re in, install a system to monitor the office when you’re not around and make sure it’s connected to a reliable response team in case something happens. Treat your workplace to complete safety and start by looking at some of the products of Skyresponse – your office has never felt more secure. With so many new apps, digital helpers, and state-of-the-art alarm systems out there, you can take the safety of your employees to new heights.

Clear away the clutter

That a few stray boxes can impose such a hazard in the workplace come as a surprise to many – until they run over one and fall on their face. Not only is a cluttered office a huge distraction when they’re trying to concentrate on their work, but it’s also one of the main causes for slips and falls around the office.

People are in a hurry when they’re working – sometimes, even a bit stressed, and need a clear pathway to stay safe. Prioritize tidiness and order in the workplace, and you’ll avoid seeing an employee experiencing an injury.

Your employees have done so much to build your business and will keep making it flourish as long as they’re safe and sound. As a leader, it’s your job to take care of them so that they can look after of your business for many years to come, staying as healthy and safe as possible.

You Want To Lead By Example, But How?

Lead

https://pixabay.com/en/photos/leader/

Being a leader is an objective task because how you choose to lead is personal. However, what all leaders have in common, or should have is the ability to set a good example. Quite simply, you have to be ready to show the people underneath you how they should act. And to do this, you want them to follow the example you set. There is a glitch, though: leading by example isn’t as easy as it sounds. Let’s face it, rocking up and knocking it out of the park is not going to happen straight away. Therefore, the key is to play the long game and let your qualities show over time.

Below are the traits you want people to see when you are the boss.

Roll Up Your Sleeves

One of the advantages of being the boss is being able to sit back and delegate to others. Although delegation is a useful tactic in lots of circumstances, there are times when it doesn’t work. Take the most tedious job in the office as an example. It is easy for you to swing the rota so that everyone in the office has to do it other than you. But, this doesn’t show the workforce that you are prepared to get your hands dirty, so why should they? Every now and again, make sure you pull your weight by slumming it with everyone else. That way, they will respect you as a leader.

Revolutionize The Office

Great bosses lead by example, but only when their employees can see them in the first place. Otherwise, your actions will go unnoticed and no one will care. With that in mind, it’s vital that the workspace is open enough for everyone to see you working hard. This should create a collaborative workspace where everyone helps and shares information. A tip: opt for an open structure where your office is in full view.

Acknowledge Failure

Every boss on the planet recognizes success, yet failure gets a different response. Sometimes, it is necessary to throw the book at the individuals that aren’t doing the work. However, for the most part, a mistake is a simple error which comes from a good place. Therefore, screaming and yelling at a person shows you to be a person that expects perfection, and that is unrealistic. Rather than yelling, try acknowledging where they went wrong and why. Then, they can learn from their mistakes and become a better worker, and you can show the office you care about their progression.

Get Results

Regardless of the tools you use, nothing is more important than getting results. Quite simply, your resume needs validating as subordinates love nothing more than an incompetent boss. The only way to make them respect your credentials is to do right by the business. So, if there is an issue that needs solving, fix it as soon as possible. Once they start to see results, they will respect and follow your example no matter what.

Hopefully, these tips will show you to be the leader everyone needs.

Why the Training Wheels Should Always Be Spinning for Your Staff

Staff training isn’t always a lot of fun for the staff. However, it does have many benefits for them, and it’s good for your business too. With the right training, your employees can continue to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their time working with you. You can improve how your business connects with customers, and how you connect with your staff too. Ongoing training can help to improve staff retention, even though there might sometimes be a bit of groaning about mandatory training. It helps you keep up with your industry and stay ahead of your competitors, plus makes it easier to make internal promotions.

Improve Communication

There are many different skills you can improve with staff training, but communication is one of the most valuable. Better communication among your team means that they communicate better with each other and with your customers. Training from a provider like Service Skills can cover a range of relevant subjects that help your staff work better as a team and connect with customers – you can learn more about Service Skills here. Communication skills are something your staff can constantly work on as communication methods change, new technologies are taken up, and people join and leave the company.

Boost Employee Retention

Another excellent benefit of staff training is that it can help with employee retention. A lot of companies can struggle with getting their employees to stick around for as long as they want to. While there could be a few things you need to examine if you find your business has a big problem, staff training can be one of the ways to get people to stay for longer. In addition to providing training that people might not be so keen on (team-building exercises, for example), you can offer them interesting training opportunities that will help them advance their career.

Keep Up with Your Industry (and Competitors)

Making sure you meet industry standards and that you can keep up with your competitors is essential for the survival of your business. Staff training is part of this, especially if updating your business means introducing new technology or procedures that require training. If others in your industry are always implementing the latest thing, you have to make sure you don’t miss out. Whenever you make any changes, your employees need to be able to keep up. Start preparing them before any big changes to make things easier.

Training

Promote from Within

Promoting people from within your company is often easier than making an outside hire. You can offer promotions and then fill in the gaps in the more junior positions, which can be easier than finding the right talent for senior roles. Offering training to your staff means that you can train up the people who you think have the most potential. Not only will they then have the skills they need for a promotion, but they will also have the necessary knowledge, experience, and familiarity with the company.

Training your staff in a variety of skills benefits both you and them. Think about how you can implement ongoing training in your business.

Doing Digital ‘Right’

Let’s get it straight – the internet is never going to stop moving, not even for a second. Code flies around at a rapid pace, and the data never stops expanding. Like that film, ‘The Blob’, the internet is just going to grow and grow. Because the internet is moving so rapidly, it can put a lot of people off – and that’s not right. If you’re a business, you need to get in touch with your digital side to maximise your success in the digital world.

The problem is, you can’t just ‘get involved’ – you need to do digital the right way. There’s no other option.  In fact, if you know that the internet could do a lot for your business, yet you avoid it – you already know that you are making a big mistake. Get to grips with the digital world and do it the right way.

Right

(source)

The right way you say? Yes. Think of the gateway to the digital world for your business, it’s a website right? You cannot just have a website and call it a day! A bad website is going to scupper your efforts. Do digital right by making an effort with your website! Do digital right by making an effort with every single part of your digital output. Just ‘having’ something doesn’t mean that that something is any good at all! You need to ensure that your digital output is polished and professional.

You can’t afford not to make an impression on the web, so make an effort to stand out. Now, this might be tricky for you to do on your own, but that’s why you have a team. It’s always why some businesses choose to outsource the work to digital agencies. Doing half a job because of your lack and skills is called doing a bad job. If you’re uncomfortable with this, get help.

You also need to do your best to make your life easier by taking on board developments in the digital world. Consider cloud servers with https://www.iozoom.com/cloud.html, consider accounting help with https://www.quickbooks.co.uk/ – there is a lot out there that you may have missed out on, so catch up. Taking advantage of the tools available to you is how you can do digital right as well. You’ve got options at your disposal, so use them!

Doing digital right is also about keeping safe online. Your security online is a big deal, believe it or not. If you’re galavanting across the web without a concern for your safety, think again. You need to consider your safety on the web at all times. Get some good anti-virus software behind your business and educate yourself and your staff about the dangers of the digital world and you’ll keep yourself safe.

There are plenty of ways to boost your online presence https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/280249, but you need to do them the right way! You cannot afford to go about implementing digital techniques in a poor manner. It’s the right way, or bust – unfortunately. If you’re not going to do digital right, it might not be worth doing digital at all.

Entrepreneurs: Is Your Office Space Up To Scratch?

Office

Link: Pexels

As an entrepreneur, you spend a lot of time fine tuning the details of your business. From your website to your app, your marketing approaches, you scour manufacturers and suppliers for the best deals and you stalk your competitors. But one area you might be overlooking completely is your office space. Not only does Uniting Functionality with Style for a good office look impressive to customers and clients, but it also helps to keep your staff safe and happy too. Here are a few things to consider.

Avoiding Injuries

When it comes to working environments, an office is one of the safest. Unlike on construction sites, in factories and warehouses, there are no heavy machines or vehicles that could cause an injury. You’re not likely to fall from great height, get burned by chemicals or get cut like you could at other workplaces. However, the office still isn’t completely safe. Slips, trips and falls account for some of the biggest injuries in the workplace. And often, they can be completely avoided by getting high-quality Commercial Epoxy Flooring. Make sure you’re sticking to health and safety procedures if a floor has been cleaned and is still wet there should be a sign alerting people. Loose carpets should be secured, and walkways should be free of boxes, files, wires and other items which could be a tripping hazard. Changes in levels can often be a cause, if there is a step up or step down in your office you should mark where this starts with a bright colour along the edge. Did you realise that poor lighting could also cause these kinds of accidents? Ensure everywhere is properly lit, bulbs should be bright enough, and burst bulbs should be replaced quickly.

If an employee is injured at work, one of the employee rights is to file a workers’ comp claim with the company’s insurance provider. It’s in a business owner’s best interest to maintain open communication between the injured employee, the doctor, the claims adjustor, and the insurance agent. This can help speed up the claims process, which allows the employee to receive the funds needed to pay for treatment, learn more from this injury law firm in rhode island. Employers should consider creating written documents in advance that outline the workers’ comp process and return-to-work policies for the business.

Keeping Employees Comfortable

Making sure employees can work comfortably is something to bear in mind when putting your office space together. Neck, back and eye strain are the types of injuries that occur over time, but can be extremely debilitating if they don’t visit a dallas chiropractic clinic once in a while. As an employer, it’s also bad news for your business since it’s likely to lead to sick days and absence which will affect productivity levels. QC Kietix identifies Joint Pain Relief in Charleston, they also offer non-invasive treatments like stem cell therapy if the pain worsens. Stem cells will also prevent infection and reduce complication risks in the long run. One of the best things you can do as the boss is ensure every employee has an ergonomically designed desk and office chair which will prevent neck, back and wrist strain. Coloured overlays on monitors can help to prevent eye strain and migraines, encourage employees to be looking away from the screen for a few minutes in every hour. If you position desks close to windows, the natural light has shown to be a mood booster which can make employees feel happier too- and in turn boost productivity.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event of a natural disaster, fire or other emergency situation, do you have a good evacuation procedure? This means staff should know how to exit the building calmly and safely, and where they can go to be counted. Some of the biggest fire hazards in the office include damaged power cords (since these are everywhere in offices) and incorrect usage of extension leads. Extension leads are designed for temporary use only, and shouldn’t be overloaded or used as a constant source of power. If you’re short on sockets, a commercial electrician could fit more within a couple of hours. Computer equipment poses a small fire hazard, make sure machines are well maintained and are turned off at the end of each day. Fire exits should be clear, with the correct fire extinguishers in easy to access places. Make sure your fire alarm is regularly tested too.

Injuries can also result from trips caused by obstacles, clutter, materials and equipment in aisles, corridors, entranceways and stairwells. Proper housekeeping in work and traffic areas is still the most effective control measure in avoiding the proliferation of these types of hazards for which a slip and fall lawyer will find you accountable. This means having policies or procedures in place and allowing time for cleaning the area. Good housekeeping is critical. Safety and housekeeping go hand in hand. If your facility’s housekeeping habits are poor, the result may be a higher incidence of employee injuries, ever-increasing insurance costs and regulatory citations. If an organization’s facilities are noticeably clean and well organized, it is a good indication that its overall safety program is effective as well.

4 Secrets Profitable Travel Agencies Swear By For Success

Whether you are in the process of launching a travel agency or have been one running for years but are in a bit of a slump, then it’s vital that you are aware of all the secrets that the most profitable and prosperous travel agencies swear by. A lot of travel agencies are now run online, but that doesn’t mean that travel agencies with premises can’t be successful, it’s just a case of ensuring that as a business you are aware of what it takes to guarantee that your business is a success.

With that in mind, the question is, what are the four secrets that all the most profitable travel agencies swear by for success?

Travel

  1. Offering a virtual service

Today, all of the most successful businesses are the ventures that offer a flexible service. What this means is not only offering an in-house travel service but also offering a virtual, online service where your customers can browse vacations, chat with a member of your team, and book and plan their vacations online.

  1. Out of the box thinking

The travel industry is becoming an increasingly competitive one, with more and more companies starting up, which is why out of the box thinking is vital, if you want to ensure that your company is a success, that is. As well as offering customers traditional packages, it can work well to offer more unique ones – packages that they could only dream of themselves. Instead of just selling them a trip, add in some extras like excursions, for instance.

  1. Cut costs

The fact is, like any business, a travel agency needs to run in a way that is as cost-effective as possible. What this means is ensuring that you are taking steps to cut costs wherever possible to help make sure that your budget – whatever it may be – stretches a little further. A simple way to do this is with the use of smart software, to help increase productivity within your travel agency, boosting the amount of work that gets done on a daily basis. Another way that you can cut costs is to be smart about the vendors that you use for certain services, such as selecting a company that offers an iata number for an affordable price, for instance. The fact is that by cutting costs, you can reduce the chances that your venture will fail and increase the chances that it will succeed, which is why cutting costs is so vital for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

  1. Effective marketing campaigns

Like with any business, your travel agency could offer the most amazing deals in the world, but if no one knows about them, you have little chance of success. That is why implementing an effective marketing method is so vital. While you could opt to manage this yourself, you don’t want to spread yourself too thin. So it may be better to hire a marketing manager or outsource the task, depending on which option is the best fit for your needs.

There you have it, a guide to four secrets that profitable travel agencies swear by for success.

Outdated Office Equipment Is Hurting Your Profits

The modern office looks a whole lot different to what it did just a few years ago. New technologies and innovative ideas about office design have given birth to a completely new breed of office. Advances in technology have made the office environment far more efficient. But if you aren’t up to date, you’ll be working a lot slower than you could be. This is a serious problem if all of your competitors are offering a more modern, streamlined service than you and it could hurt your profits. If you haven’t updated your office in a while, this is what you’re missing out on.

Speed Of Information

Before the days of wifi, if a colleague needed a document, it meant you had to print it out and take it down to them. All of that back and forth wasted a lot of time, but that’s all in the past now. Emailing sped things up a little but the advent of cloud computing means that everybody in the office can access any files that they need remotely. If you haven’t got a quick connection, seek the advice of a voice cabling company. They will be able to speed up your wifi connection to ensure that everybody always has access to information that they need.

Flexibility

Work doesn’t have to be limited to business hours anymore. When you needed access to the office to get your work done, there wasn’t much you could do at home. These days, you can remotely access anything that you need from your personal devices at home. Being able to reply to emails immediately and get on with work while you’re at home makes it far easier to keep on top of your workload. It also means that if employees are sick, they can still get on with a bit of work while they’re at home. Business trips are also made easier because employees don’t need to take paper copies of all of the materials that they need.

Global Communication

Dealing with partners or clients around the globe can cause a lot of issues. Trying to deal with time zones and set up a conference call is a bit of a nightmare. Unfortunately, businesses are increasingly reliant on relationships with other countries. By using newer methods like emailing and video calling, it can make it easier to set up meetings and organize business deals with people on the other side of the world.

Automation

There are certain things that technology can’t do. It can’t think creatively or make judgement calls. That needs to be left up to your employees. However, technology can easily deal with a lot of the admin that takes up huge amounts of their time. Things like payroll can easily be handled by a piece of software, freeing up your employees to spend time coming up with new ideas and pushing your business forward.

These are just a few simple ways that technology has streamlined the office environment but there are countless other ways that it can make things run way more efficiently so don’t be afraid to embrace technology.

Time Is Everything To A Leader, So Stop Wasting It

A business leader has a lot of responsibilities. Setting and facilitating goals. Taking care of marketing and communication with clients. Managing the team. So, on and so forth. It all takes up time, meaning that time can be one of your most precious resources. Yet if you haven’t optimized your business day, you could be wasting a lot more of that time than you should be. If you constantly feel chased by deadlines and like your day ends with much less done than you would like, freeing up some time could be just what you need to do.

Prioritize first

Every day should start with some idea of what you hope to accomplish. Set one major goal and how much progress you must make by the end of the work day. You have a-hundred-and-one things to do, but you’re not going to do all of them now. Create a to-do list but go further than that. Create a priority for every task on there. Eliminate the tasks that aren’t urgent and aren’t vital first. Those go on the not-to-do list. From there, create different priorities for each task and list them in order.

Structure the day

Once you have tasks prioritized, spend some time figuring out roughly how long it would take you to complete a task. Fill up the day with those tasks, including real breaks (not short slices of time to eat at the desk). Then go about structuring those tasks. For instance, if you have four jobs that require you to use Excel, batch them together. The mind tends to switch gear when moving from one task to another that uses a different set of tools. Batching tasks together reduces the amount of time your brain needs to switch from one gear to another. Consider the order of tasks that allows you to be at your most productive. If one of the items that you’re definitely doing on the to-do list is particularly big, then break it into smaller chunks that you fit amongst the rest of the day’s workload.

Don’t multitask

It’s tempting to get caught up by a request from someone to handle a certain process when you’re in the middle of a big project. However, you have to know when to say “I’ll do it later” or “no”. Multitasking has long been proven to not be the productivity boosting technique that it has been promoted as. It actually makes you less productive. You can’t truly focus on a task; you’re more likely to make mistakes and spend more time fixing them. When you multitask, instead of getting two things done well, you’re likely to get them done poorly or not done at all. When possible, take your time and finish one task before moving onto the other. Of course, you have to prepare for some high-priority interruptions, but when you take them relies on your own judgment.

Don’t do it all yourself

You’re the boss; you shouldn’t have to handle every little thing. Learning to delegate can be a huge time-saver. Just make sure you’re not delegating your core responsibilities or boring work that teaches your subordinates nothing. For admin work, you can use virtual assistant services like https://www.virtualheadquarters.com. Outsourcing allows you to get more work done without having to keep pushing the burden to your own staff members. Remember that they all have their own workloads to handle without you having to constantly make use of them. Delegate when it makes sense and outsource when it makes sense.

Take the tedium out of your work

There are some processes you might not be as comfortable with outsourcing. Unless you have the budget to hire a real accountant, then you don’t want an assistant taking care of your money, for instance. But there are a lot of tools that can fully or partly automate different parts of your responsibilities. For instance, https://www.expensify.com/ is a tool that allows you to easily integrate any expenses receipts into your accounting. There are tools that allow to structure and send invoices much quicker, take care of payroll and HR, and so on. You can also automate those little housekeeping chores like backing up your data to a Cloud server so you never have to worry about them again.

Don’t let communication encroach

One of the most dangerous time-wasters in business is your communications work. We’re not talking about team meetings or staff needing help. Rather, we’re thinking about the amount of time you spend poring through and replying to emails every day or checking on every single social media account. Your emails need to be checked and replies need to be made. But it’s important you don’t let them butt their way into your work. Set aside an hour in the morning, or two half-hours throughout the day to work through your emails. As for social media, management tools like https://hootsuite.com/ allow you to schedule, to post, and to check
several different accounts all from one screen.

Make meetings matter

They might only happen once a week, once a fortnight or even once a month, but team meetings can be a huge drain on the company when done wrong. Not just a waste of time, but a motivation sapper if they’re not conducted correctly. For one, if you’re apart, then you can include remote workers through online collaborative software. But more important is how you communicate and what you talk about during the meeting. Spend half-an-hour the day before the meeting, or the week before if it’s the first thing that happens after a weekend. Put together an agenda and send it to your team. If there are any items that are only pertinent to one or two people in the team, put it aside for a smaller conversation. Set a direction and ask if they have anything they want to talk about. This allows everyone to prepare talking points and think about the topic rather than being blindsided by conversations they have no meaningful response to.

The sooner you start taking time management seriously, the more time you can win back. You can pull back from the minutiae and start focusing on the big picture stuff, the stuff that will win you more profit at the end of the day.
